Sweet and Sour Meat Balls

350°F

12" shallow Dutch oven

  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • 2 large onions, diced and divided
  • 1/3 cup water
  • ½ cup bread crumbs and crushed corn flakes, mixed
  • ½ cup ketchup
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 small head of cabbage, diced
 Sauce:
  • ½ cup ketchup
  • Juice of 4 lemons
  • 2 (8 oz.) cans tomato sauce
  • 1 cup brown sugar

In a large bowl mix meat, 1 onion, water, crumbs, ½ cup ketchup and garlic. Form into 2 inch balls and fry in Dutch oven until brown, set aside.Sauté remaining onion until golden brown. Add cabbage and sauté lightly.Place onion and cabbage mixture in bottom of Dutch oven. Place meat balls on top.

In a medium bowl, mix sauce ingredients together and pour over meat balls. Cover and simmer for 1 hour.
